Collections Manager

Job description

Our client, a prominent and reputable tertiary level education company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Collections Manager to join their team. 
With a strong commitment to providing quality education and a focus on student success, our client is a recognised leader in the education sector.

They provide top tier care to their sudents and as a Collections Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of student accounts and outstanding balances.
You will work within the finance department, utilising your expertise in collections and financial operations to contribute to the overall success of the institution.

This role is a permanent opportunity and we are looking for anyone readily available to start immediately. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team responsible for collections, including providing guidance and training to team members.
  • Develop and implement effective collections strategies to recover outstanding student accounts. 
  • Monitor and analyse student accounts to identify and manage arrears and defaults on multiple accounts and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with students, ensuring a positive and empathetic approach to resolve outstanding financial issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve student account discrepancies and inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to collections practices.
  • Prepare regular reports on collections performance for senior management.
Qualifications:
  • Either proven prior experience or a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Proven experience in collections management, advantageous if within the education sector.
  • Strong knowledge of collections strategies, tactics, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive financial discussions with students.
  • Leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of collection specialists.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, financial tools, and databases.
  • Must have valid NZ working rights
